...was one to bring
tears to my eyes. Low sank the fiery orb, brilliant with colors
only heaven can muster, growing enormous with every moment he
melted into the wintered landscape. The clouds brushed glimmering
with golds, as glitter on a rosy cheek and lined with molten
metal hues that burned into my eyes, even in their gentle blinking.
As he dipped into the silhouetted trees, setting the forest ablaze
with unconsumming flames, filtering beams burst forth filling
the yet azure spance with vibrant wedges of light, painting the
sky as a child would with a smiling thick rayed sun. Such sites
I see and would think almost commonplace upon my long drive home,
but not today. His passionate closing of the hour beckoned; no,
demanded that I stop my car, get out and watch in silent wonder.
I did.
