Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Costa RicaCosta Rica
Costa Rica (which means rich coast), is a country blessed with abundant natural attractions in the form of rugged rainforests, pristine beaches, volcanoes and immense biodiversity.
The benefits of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) have been well documented and include a reduction in stress levels, improved balance, a boost to cardiovascular health and an overall full body workout.
The chance to participate in this wonderfully meditative, low-impact exercise surrounded by the stunning Costa Rican landscape, whilst scanning the horizon for colourful wildlife and paddling amongst acrobatic dolphins, should definitely be added to your bucket list.
If you have never attempted SUP, the good news is that it's not difficult to learn. The Costa Rica and Panama Canal expedition is the perfect trip to master this skill in a safe environment of protected bays, coral reefs and temperate waters. Paddle your way to remote areas that are often unaccessible by foot or Zodiac.
For more experienced paddle boarders, hone your skills by paddling in stunning Antarctic landscapes while penguins and seals swim alongside; spot birds perched on the rocky, jagged cliffs in Scotland; or paddle past icebergs whilst scanning the horizon for wildlife in Greenland.
Stand-up paddleboarding is offered on select Antarctic, Arctic and Scotland voyages, as well as the Costa Rica and Panama Canal expedition.
This activity is an optional extra on the Aurora Expeditions Wild Antarctica and Antarctic Explorer voyages. Priced at US$600 per person.
Suitable for anyone who doesn’t mind a little physical exercise.
If your experience is limited, contact Aurora to discuss your suitability. Paddlers should be aged 16 or over.
