Sinking beers at the end of the worldHobart, Australia
A delicious drop of Tasmania’s history is brewed at one of the world’s most beautiful establishments, the Cascade Brewery. More castle than factory, it was designed by Peter Degraves and built back in 1924. There are two one-and-a-half-hour tours each weekday taking guests through the amazing granite building and historic gardens.
Learn how the beer is made, hear a few brewers’ tales and, at the end, shrug off your hi-viz vest and sample a refreshing ale straight from the taps. If you love what you see, come back the next day for the Heritage Tour.
The Brewery Tour costs about US$22, and the Heritage Tour about US$15.
Visitors must be older than 16 years to take the Brewery Tour.
