Award-winning Australian photographer Jason Edwards has a portfolio that ranks among the largest of any snapper in National Geographic Society’s history. National Geographic has enlisted Jason to join its 11-day Emblematic Antarctica voyage, departing 26 February, where he’ll give budding photographers a helping hand snapping this white wonder. He describes the landscape as “picture perfect” so you’re sure to come away with some killer images.
Jason has been at the forefront of wildlife and environmental photography since his career began more than three decades ago at the Royal Melbourne Zoo. He is won a whole raft of awards – some of them multiple times – including the Eureka Prize for Science Photography, Communications Art Photography Annual and the Australian Geographic Society Pursuit of Excellence Award.
Drawing upon his skills as an environmentalist, animal scientist, historian and National Geographic stalwart, Jason will share his knowledge and techniques through photography workshops and practical excursions suitable for all levels of amateur photographer.
One of the highlights of the cruise will be sailing on the Weddell Sea when it’s relatively free of ice. This is an excellent chance to begin capturing pics of whales and sea birds before you hone your newly acquired skills on land.
Each day, whether on land, aboard the ship or during a Zodiac outing, you’ll have plenty of subjects and come home with an extensive portfolio of polar pics.
Prices for remaining cabins on the 11-day Emblematic Antarctica cruise start at AU$15,680 per person based on double occupancy.
