A New Way Around Sri Lanka

14 Oct 2026

Sri Lanka has always been a bit of a show-off.

Leopards lurking in the scrub. Tea plantations climbing into the clouds. Surf breaks, ancient cities, jungle, mountains and beaches that make extending your trip feel like decision you should’ve made yesterday (that’s just like, basic common sense).

Now InsideAsia is giving travellers a few more ways to get amongst it.

The Asia specialist has officially added Sri Lanka to its books, launching seven new itineraries across the island following its expansion into India in 2025.

And rather than simply joining the dots between the country’s greatest hits, the new trips are designed to dig a little deeper.

Sri Lanka Uncovered does exactly that, pairing the tea-covered hills around Ella with Wilpattu National Park on the north-west coast, a quieter alternative to some of the island’s better-known wildlife reserves. It’s Sri Lanka with the obvious good stuff intact, plus a few reasons to wander off-script.

For those keen to get properly grubby, Wilder Sri Lanka heads through jungles, mountains and coastline, with lesser-visited national parks and local cultural experiences worked into the mix.

There’s also a dedicated Family Adventure, while travellers whose definition of roughing it requires very good sheets can opt for a luxury itinerary featuring boutique stays and time among the ridiculously green mountains of Hatton Hill Country.

The program has been developed by InsideAsia’s Indian Subcontinent Programme Manager Jess Andrews, who lived in Sri Lanka for three years. That local knowledge feeds into the company’s bigger plan for the destination: build trips around genuine connections rather than simply ticking landmarks off a list.

As a certified B Corp, Inside Travel is also working on community-led experiences and Undertourism initiatives designed to send travellers (and their tourism dollars) beyond the usual hotspots.

Seven itineraries are only the beginning, with more Sri Lanka experiences already in the works. Sign us the hell up.

If your idea of sightseeing usually involves a car, a dusty selfie stick, and way too many “are we there yet?” moments, it’s time to rethink things.
