The Middle Eastern nation has introduced a free 14-day tourist visa for travellers from more than 100 eligible countries, making spontaneous escapes, stopovers and short adventures much easier to pull off.
Australians are among the nationalities able to take advantage of the new entry rules, provided they meet the relevant conditions, including holding a confirmed hotel booking, return ticket, health insurance and proof of sufficient funds.
Fourteen days might not sound like much, but it’s more than enough time to wander Muscat’s bustling souqs, sleep beneath star-filled desert skies, hike through dramatic wadis, cool off in emerald swimming holes and cruise the fjords of the Musandam Peninsula.
